Giving directions (Wegbeschreibung)

To describe the way, you often use the imperative (usually the Sie form) together with direction words. This is how you tell someone how to get somewhere.

Examples: Gehen Sie geradeaus. (Go straight ahead.) · Biegen Sie an der Ampel links ab. (Turn left at the traffic light.) · Nehmen Sie die erste Straße rechts. (Take the first street on the right.)

Der Bahnhof ist dann auf der linken Seite. (The station is then on the left-hand side.)
