Adjective endings after the definite article
After the definite article (der/die/das), the adjective usually takes the ending -e in the nominative. In the plural it ends in -en.

Examples: Der große Mann ist mein Vater. (The tall man is my father.) · Das neue Auto ist teuer. (The new car is expensive.) · Die kleinen Kinder spielen. (The small children are playing.)
Because the article already shows the gender, the adjective only needs the simple ending -e (or -en in the plural).
