Introductory phrases

Indirect questions often start with a polite introductory phrase. After it comes "ob" (yes/no question) or a question word, and the verb goes at the end.

Kannst du mir sagen, …?polite request
Weißt du, …?simple query
Ich frage mich, …wondering to yourself

Example: Kannst du mir sagen, wann der Zug fährt? (Can you tell me when the train leaves?)
