Two-way prepositions with "Wo?" (dative)

There are nine two-way prepositions: in, an, auf, unter, über, vor, hinter, neben, zwischen. They can take the dative or the accusative. When you ask "Wo?" (where?) – that is, about a position with no movement – you use the dative.

The article in the dative changes by gender:
