Adjective endings in the nominative (definite article)

When an adjective stands before a noun, it takes an ending. After the definite article (der/die/das) in the nominative, the ending is almost always -e in the singular and -en in the plural.

Example: Der neue Kollege heißt Tom. (The new colleague is called Tom.)
