Wiederholung: weil/dass/wenn
Review: weil / dass / wenn
All three are subordinating conjunctions. The shared rule: the conjugated verb goes to the end, and there is a comma before the conjunction. They differ only in meaning.
| Conjunction | Question/Function | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| weil | Why? | reason | …, weil es regnet. |
| dass | What? | statement/fact | …, dass er kommt. |
| wenn | When?/On what condition? | condition/repetition | Wenn es regnet, … |
Note:
- If the clause comes first, the main clause starts with the verb (comma, verb).
- "weil" and "denn" mean the same, but after "denn" the word order stays normal (main clause).
Examples:
- Ich nehme den Schirm, weil es regnet. (I take the umbrella because it's raining.)
- Ich weiß, dass du Recht hast. (I know that you're right.)
- Wenn ich Zeit habe, besuche ich dich. (When I have time, I'll visit you.)
