"deshalb" (consequence)

"deshalb" (therefore / that's why) states a result: first the reason, then the consequence with "deshalb". It is an adverb and usually stands in position 1 → the verb follows directly (position 2).

"deshalb" is basically the counterpart of "weil": "weil" introduces the reason (subordinate clause), "deshalb" introduces the result (main clause). Similar words: deswegen, darum, daher, somit.
