Akkusativ-Artikel – A1 German Grammar
The accusative: articles
The accusative object is usually the person or thing that "receives" the action. Only the masculine article changes – the rest stays the same.

|---|---|---|
| masculine | der/ein | den/einen |
| feminine | die/eine | die/eine |
| neuter | das/ein | das/ein |
| plural | die | die |
Example: Ich sehe den Mann, die Frau und das Kind. (I see the man, the woman and the child.)
Memory aid
Only masculine changes: der → den, ein → einen, kein → keinen, mein → meinen.
Whom or what? (asking for the accusative)
Ask with Wen? (whom) or Was? (what): Ich sehe den Mann. → Wen sehe ich? – Den Mann.
Common mistakes
- ❌ Ich sehe der Mann → ✅ Ich sehe den Mann.
- ❌ Ich habe einen Frau → ✅ Ich habe eine Frau (feminine stays the same).
